Fire Extinguisher Hydrostatic (Hydro) Testing

  • NFPA 10 requires that fire extinguishers undergo period hydrostatic (hydro) testing
  • Standard ABC dry chemical fire extinguishers require hydrostatic testing at 12-year intervals (and internal inspections at 6-year intervals)
  • K-Class fire extinguishers require hydrostatic testing at 5-year intervals

Kitchen Fire Suppression System Hydrostatic (Hydro) Testing

  • NFPA 17A requires that wet chemical fire suppression cylinders used in kitchen fire suppression systems undergo hydrostatic testing at 12-year intervals
